In these short welcome videos, you’ll meet the friendly faces behind How To Harp:
Angela Boraston : Harp Tutor and 'Sweet Pea'
Katherine Rigby-Jones : Customer Relations Manager and Harp Learner
William Robertson : Technology and Operations
Trish Ponayo : Admin Assistant
Plus we have our other Sweet Peas, Eithne, Karin, Kate, Mary, Rosie and Victoria who are all experienced How To Harp members and work closely with Heather. They lead the Harp Lounge Meetups and Practice Together sessions and generally support our members within the How To Harp Circle Community and Membership.
Learning Pathways
We have clear level based learning pathways designed for you to work through at a steady pace, slowly building up your technique and repertoire to give sustainable results. If you're more focused on musical goals than levels, feel free to explore our thematic pathways such as the mind or expression pathways.
💬 Monthly Power Hours with Heather
Once a month, join a live Q&A session with Heather (or watch the replay later). You can ask questions live or email them in and Heather will answer them during the session.
🎓 Annual Masterclass with Heather
Each member is entitled to one free masterclass every year.
1-2-1 lessons
You can also book private 1-2-1 lessons with Heather or Angela for an additional fee.
🎯 Monthly Goal Setting with Victoria
Stay on track with monthly goal-setting sessions led by Victoria. These are a great way to stay motivated, reflect, and shape your harp journey around your life.
Inside the Technique Bank, you’ll find a wide variety of courses and individual exercises, carefully designed to target specific harp techniques.
To make your learning journey as smooth and efficient as possible, the Technique Bank features a powerful search and filter system. You can find the exact techniques you want to work on by selecting from specific technique categories, and filtering for your current skill level.
The Tune Bank is your personal library of harp music. You can filter the tunes by genre and level of difficulty to find pieces that are suitable for you, whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced player.
Quick Learns
Quick Learns are taught through full, slow-tempo demonstrations - right hand, left hand, then hands together - along with helpful tips and an overview of how to approach the piece.
While they’re called “Quick Learns,” they may take just as long to master as a full course, they simply offer a different style of teaching.
Full Courses
These are step-by-step, bar-by-bar lessons, ideal for learners who enjoy a detailed, methodical approach. You’ll be guided through the entire piece with technical instruction, musical interpretation, fingerings, rhythm, and expression.
Sheet Music Access
• For out-of-copyright pieces, sheet music is available to download directly from How To Harp.
• For copyrighted works, you’ll be directed to a trusted site where you can purchase the music for a low fee.
The How To Harp Circle Community
Here you’ll find a place to chat, clubs to join as well as the opportunity to RSVP to events to get notification emails so that you don't miss anything.
We recommend you stay logged into both the How To Harp Membership and the How To Harp Circle Community so that you can toggle easily between the two.
Harp Lounge Meetups via the Circle Community
We have regular opportunities to meet with small groups of How To Harp members in a safe, personal setting where you can chat, ask questions and maybe play your harps for each other. You can go to as many or as few as you like.
HTH Buddies
Would you like a harp buddy? We can introduce you to another How To Harp member and you can then communicate in any way that suits you both, it's a lovely way to stay motivated and share your harp journey with a friend.
Practice Together Sessions
Join these friendly, live group practice sessions to stay accountable and motivated. Bring your harp, settle in, and work alongside others in a calm, supportive space, like a virtual library with harp friends.
Practice Performing Club
Build confidence in a safe, supportive space. You can choose to perform something (no matter how small), or simply come along as part of the audience, which is just as important. It’s a great way to get used to sharing music without any pressure.
Harpy Speed Chatting
Pop into these relaxed, fun sessions to meet other members in short, friendly one-on-one chats.
You're all set to begin your How To Harp journey! Now that you’ve got the lay of the land. Feel free to explore the membership at your own pace. Think of it like a resource library, there's no need to do everything at once. A great place to begin is with the Learning Pathways, where you can follow a path that suits your level or focus area.
If you ever feel unsure or would like some help finding your next step, you're always welcome to email our friendly Customer Relations Manager, Katherine, at [email protected], she’s always happy to guide you.
